Visiting Downtown Healdsburg for the first time or need a few new places to add to your wine tasting itinerary? When Anne’s friends ask her where to go, this is where she sends them.
Cheers to being car-free and walking your way through downtown Healdsburg. There are a lot of places I love outside of downtown, but not having to designate a driver, lets everyone enjoy the day to it’s wine-filled fullest.
TO STAY
Stay at H2hotel located just off The Square. This hotel is big on “eco-chic” amenities without being huge on the price (especially off-season). The locally sourced breakfast menu is tempting if you need a nibble before you venture out on your day. Otherwise…
TO NOSH
Downtown Bakery and Creamery: A donut muffin?? Yes please. If I’m going all out…then we might as well start the day with two of my favorite foods in one sugary explosion.
TO ROAST
Flying Goat Coffee: Walk up a block and grab a Flying Goat coffee. I love the mindful attention to making the best darn cup of coffee and they make an awesome small batch java here. I usually pick up a pound to take home too.
TO SIP
Banshee Wines: Started by three hipster dudes that have a passion for wine paired with a bit of flair. Their mid-century-meets-Mission-district tasting room is the perfect place to have your first rose of the day.
Stark Wine: A small but very cool little tasting room with highly rated wines. Try the Eaglepoint Syrah and their Barbera -- stay to listen to live music on Fridays. A brag-worthy, small-producing gem.
TO LEARN
The Shed: Take a class on how to make Soba noodles or plant a biodynamic garden that attracts bees. So many unique offerings that are meant to bring people together in the tradition of the old grange halls. While you are there, sample some local producers of fermented drinks: Kombucha, hard ciders, natural sodas and of course beer and wine. They also have a well curated selection of tools-of-the-trade, such as unique kitchen tools and gifts for the foodies in your life.
EXTRAS
Shameless Plug: If you want to bring home a little piece of wine country, you can find our Olive and Poppy collection at Saint Dizier Home and Tallulah…both located right off The Square.
TO FINISH
End your day at Barn Diva for their seasonal and tasty dinner menus. It changes all the time, but right now I LOVE their heirloom beet salad served with warm goat cheese croquettes paired with a “Neverending Now” cocktail. You will never want your day to end…..
